The Umm Yifeenah Bridge has opened in Abu Dhabi

On February 9th, Abu Dhabi witnessed the opening of the Umm Yifeenah Bridge and a 36,089 ft superhighway, which aims to minimise traffic congestion and speed up travel across the emirate. The superhighway will provide swift connectivity between Umm Yiffenah Island, Al Reem Island and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street in Abu Dhabi. For the utmost convenience of residents and other road users, the bridge contains cycling and walking paths, in addition bike rental facilities. This is the first phase of the Mid-Island Parkway project that will connect Khalifa City, Al Raha Beach, Saadiyat Island and Al Reem Island. Its estimated completion is scheduled for 2028.

Other exciting news regarding the infrastructure of the capital is the opening of the Midfield Terminal in late 2023, as reported by Momberger Airport Information. The report stated that the grand event is set to take place on December 2nd, which is also the UAE National Day. Valued at AED 10.8B (USD 2.94B), the Midfield Terminal has a capacity of accommodating 11,000 passengers per hour or approximately 45 million passengers every year. According to the Momberger Airport, terminals 1 and 2 will be closed in Abu Dhabi International Airport upon the opening of the new terminal. At the same time, terminal 3 could be used during peak times or developed into a standalone terminal. According to the information reported by WAM in 2020, Abu Dhabi Airports collaborated with the Etihad Aviation Group, EAG, in order to train 17,000 employees, which will operate the Midfield Terminal.
