The prestigious World Competitiveness Yearbook ranking has included the UAE in the top 10 competitive countries in the world

The UAE entered the top 10 most competitive countries in the world for the first time in the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2023 ranking. The report is published by the Center for Global Competitiveness of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The UAE ranked fourth in the world and first in the region of the Middle East and North Africa. The top three places were taken by Denmark, Ireland and Switzerland.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said that under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ruler of Abu Dhabi and the President of the UAE, as well as the outstanding efforts of Emiratis, the country has become a world leader in various fields.

The UAE is a world leader in the efficiency of state administration with an adaptive policy, a low level of bureaucracy and low taxes on personal income.

At the same time, the country has affordable taxes on capital and consumption, low rates of tax evasion and flexible laws on residence. As a result, the country entered into the top 5 rating according to these indicators.

Among other high positions in various sub-indicators, it is worth noting the UEA came in first place in world trade, second in infrastructure, and fourth in the local economy and tax policy.

As for employment and the labour market, the UAE ranks fifth in terms of labour force participation and foreign labour, as well as the unemployment rate. According to the availability of qualified foreign workers, the country came in second place.

The UAE ranked fifth in the world in terms of infrastructure for the distribution of goods and services, as well as second in terms of tourism revenue.

World Competitiveness Yearbook is an annual report that evaluates the competitiveness of world economies, and is published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).
