Abu Dhabi Customs reports an increase in the number of digital customs operations at the border

The number of digital customs operations through the border points of the emirate has risen, as stated by The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs. In the first half of 2023, the number increased by 37% compared to the same period in 2022. The growth rate in the clearance of goods transactions reached 36%, and the requests for customs clearance in free zones rose by 20%.

Abu Dhabi Customs noted a 6% increase in customs declaration volumes in the first half of 2023. The percentage of customs clearance operations before the arrival of goods is 38% of the total volume of such operations in all Abu Dhabi’s customs centres.

During the first six months of this year, 22% of entry operations and 57% of exit declarations accounted for preliminary customs clearance before arrival. The service launched a new digital clearance function for non-residents and unregistered companies from outside the UAE within the framework of the “Abu Dhabi Programme for Effortless Customer Experience”.

Active development in the first half of 2023 demonstrates economic growth in all sectors in the country and in Abu Dhabi in particular, as highlighted by The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs. Such efforts are aimed at strengthening the position of the UAE in the global economic system in accordance with the achievement of the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071. This is also influenced by the “We the UAE 2031” concept, which is aimed at improving the country’s status as an influential economic centre.
